Organ donation – give the gift of life

Have you ever thought about organ donation? If not—or you’re not sure that it’s the right choice for you—this interview is sure to shake things up.

Kathleen interviews a mom who has experienced both the gratitude and heartbreak of organ donation. Conni Duranceau shares the story of her son David, who was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11 and eventually, at age 33, needed a kidney and pancreas transplant. Just ten weeks after his very successful transplant surgery, David suffered unrelated inter-cranial bleeding and was pronounced brain dead. Per David’s wishes, he donated the very organ he received from someone else, as well as both of his lungs and his liver. Four people received the gift of life from David’s tragedy, and he is the only person in the world who has donated the organs he received.

Today, Conni is an organ donor advocate and runs the David Duranceau Foundation, an organization that raises funds for the Organ Procurement Organization.
